WiFi Network Security
WiFi has become extremely popular with both home and business networking because it's easy to use and requires no messy,
time-consuming cables to run and install.
However, securing the networks from bandwidth and information theft is far from an easy task. The confusing and often
incomplete instructions provided by wireless router manufacturers make it impossible for the average user to close all the security holes.
Bandwidth thieves know this and are known to engage in a hobby known as "wardriving" -- cruising around in a car with their wireless laptop looking for your hotspot.
The least amount of damage they can do is to steal your bandwidth, slowing down your own e-mail and Web access. A sophisticated thief (a "cracker" -- the bad-guy version of a hacker) may even be able to break into your computer and others connected to your network.
But even the least-technically inclined person can download a free program known as a "port sniffer" and monitor all your network traffic including your passwords, user accounts and other valuable data which can either be sold or used later to inflict major damage on you, perhaps even stealing your identity.
If your network is within 20 miles of Sonoma, we'll visit your location and perform a security assessment of your WiFi network for just $50. If vulnerabilities are found, we'll reconfigure your router at a cost of $50 per hour.
We'll even credit you $25 of your initial security assessment fee toward the time we spend securing your router which means your first half hour is free. Typically we can finish our work in an hour or less.
Typical competitive services cost $75 to $100 per hour.
